Faress Arafat is a Palestinian nurse from Gaza with professional experience in emergency and humanitarian healthcare. During the 2023 war, he worked in the emergency department of Al-Shifa Hospital, providing nursing care under extremely challenging and resource-constrained conditions. He later worked as a nurse at a medical point serving displaced people in a camp in Rafah, where he supported patients affected by conflict, displacement, and limited access to healthcare. Following his clinical and humanitarian work in Gaza, he moved to Ireland and completed a Master’s degree in Global Health at Trinity College Dublin. He is due to begin a PhD in Applied Psychology at University College Cork, where he aims to further explore the psychological and social consequences of conflict and the development of evidence-informed approaches to mental health and community well-being.
